An income that is earned on an ongoing basis for an effort which was done once in the past is called residual income. Sometimes it is also known as passive income and when it comes to your home based business effort, the idea is to get paid over and over for doing the work one time.

It is better to choose residual income programs that pay you on the efforts of others. This means that you will need to recruit other affiliates to do selling and promoting for you. The benefit to doing this is duplicating yourself and multiplying your efforts without spending more of your personal time.
If you recruit an affiliate who will spend several hours a week promoting and you spend some time also selling, you now have duplicated your time spent on building a residual income. What if you had 10 people who could spend 40 hours a week? You now have created a powerhouse creating residual income for yourself.
One way that this has worked out over the years is in the affiliate marketing industry. Affiliate marketing creates residual income for you when you build a downline of distributors (affiliates) who are buying and selling products. With every product that is sold you earn a commission.
Two tier affiliate marketing programs is yet another excellent way to create residual income. Although you will not be able to create depth in a downline distributorship like multi level marketing, you will be able to enroll front line affiliates and get paid on all of their efforts when you are in a two tier affiliate marketing program.
Strong affiliate marketers can be excellent people to recruit because they are very sales oriented. Many average ordinary people join a network marketing business with the idea that they can get rich.
Actually, most people who join an internet marketing business will never sponsor anybody personally. So, you are never able to generate a large downline of people like this. However, if you play the numbers eventually you will find enough frontline network marketing distributors that will go on and build a group of their own.
The best home based business residual income tip I can offer you is to spend your time recruiting. One way to create residual income and duplicate yourself without spending more time doing it is to get paid on the work of other people. This will guarantee that you will receive a strong residual income in the future.

Marketing business credit card?
I am looking for selling business credit card for credit card issuers, where I can both have one-time commission and residual/interest income. Is this possible?

go to the credit card you want to get commission for lets say american express http://www.americanexpress.com then go to the bottom and click on affiliate program. it will ultimately lead you to sites i listed above. i believe the commission for american express is $50-$100 per cards are responsible for selling

Hi, I work for a registered MSP for Visa and MasterCard (five and a half years now) and have done sales so I speak from experience.
You can make good money but it won’t happen right away. The real money comes from residual income on the merchants you acquire. Although you can make money from selling credit card terminals that will only be enough to put food on your plate while you build up your portfolio.
As you build your portfolio your monthly income will grow accordingly. On average a typical merchant will make you about $25 per month. So when you are first starting off the residual income won’t be enough to support you. But as your portfolio grows to about 100 merchants that residual income will now be $2500 a month or more which, when combined with your terminal sales, is enough to make a living. The average sales agent brings in 5 – 8 merchants per month.
Of course, your goal is to have as many merchants as possible in your portfolio and to land as many “big fish” as you can. Landing high volume merchants will make you much more money then landing start-up ecommerce websites as they tend to perform poorly. You also need to make sure you bring on enough new merchants to help offset the ones that leave you. Just like you will be stealing merchants from other sales agents, they will be doing the same to you.
A work week is never less then 40 hours if you hope to keep generating leads. You’ll be spending half of your time generating leads and the other half making your sales pitch to the leads you have generated. Competition is fierce and merchants are reluctant to switch so don’t be surprised to be turned down frequently.
